1 Soil samples are taken and plants are analyzed
Fall is the best time to analyze soil and plants because both are in their worst condition of the year.
Soils are depleted from a season of use by the plants that depend on it.
Plants have been stressed from summer heat, weeds, pests and possible moisture shortages.
2 Soil is analyzed in the lab during winter months
The lab looks at visual things such as the type of soil and the condition of it.
The soil is then broken down to determine the nutrient and mineral levels.
Some levels may be in excess and need to be brought down.
Others will be a deficiency that needs to be brought up.
Based on the crop, recommendations are made to bring those levels to an optimum fertility.
3 Apply granular and liquid fertilizer in the spring
Using the recommendations from the lab analysis a custom blend of granular fertilizer is made to correct any nutrient and mineral deficiencies or excesses.
The granular fertilizer is applied in early spring and followed by a heavy application of liquid fertilizer.
The granular fertilizer works through out the year to correct the nutient and mineral levels.
The liquid fertilizer is a feed to improve the condition of the plants.
If needed, a soil conditioner will be applied to relieve compaction of the soil.
By customizing the fertilizer we are only applying what is needed by your lawn, garden or plants.
4 Maintain lawn and plants through out the summer
A series of liquid fertilizer applications is done every 6 weeks.
This encourages longer root growth, along with fuller and darker plants.
With a softer soil the roots can grow deeper allowing the plants to with stand heavy traffic and pets.
A more established root system reduces the frequency of watering.
Adding microbial life in these applications will aid in breaking down the nutrients for the plants to use.
5 Chart the progress
The soil is tested again in the fall and the lab analysis is compared to the year prior.
Nutrient and mineral levels are charted to ensure they are going in the desired direction.
All progress is charted on an annual progress report that compares change in the soil with visual results.
